- My first cosplay was technically Aya from White Cross, but I don't consider that really a cosplay... It was very poorly done. My first real one, I guess, was Shin from Dragon Ball Z. It was just convenient because I had a mohawk and could be be him easily. (funny enough, I didn't really know anything about either series or the characters. My friends just told me to be them)
When and where did you first cosplay?
- Julies garage for our very first Anoween in 2001.
When and where was the last time you cosplayed?
- I last cosplayed at our 7th annual Anoween. I was G.T. Blitz from Jak X: Combat Racing : D and then again the same character for a photoshoot a few days later.
Who have you cosplayed as in the past?
- Aya from White Cross
- Shin from Dragon Ball Z
- Strike from Bust a Groove
- Shigure Sohma from Fruits Basket
- Random Goon #2 from Yu-Gi-Oh (yes, not really a cosplay... but whatever!)
- Gatti from Vision of Escaflowne
- Hakkaku from Inuyasha
- Chouji from Naruto
- Nephlite (Nephrite) from Sailor Moon
- Dryden Fassa from Vision of Escaflowne
- Mario ... as in the The Mario Brothers...
- G.T. Blitz from Jak X: Combat Racing
I can't remember if there are more or not..
Who is your favorite person to cosplay as?
- Hakkaku was actually really fun to be. I thought I was going to be very uncomfortable being him, but it was actually kind of liberating walking around in bare feet. I also really like being Mario and Dryden. Mario is fun because he's such a classic character and Dryden is... my favorite character of all time, so... yeah.
Who do you REALLY wanna cosplay as?
- Shmendrick from The Last Unicorn
- Zoidberg from Futurama
- Gwendal from Kyo Kara Maoh
- Nekozawa from Ouran High School Host Club
- Dr. Horrible from Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along-Blog
- Uncle Iroh from Avatar: The Last Air Bender
- Appa from Avatar: The Last Air Bender (I really want to try a mascot costume!)
... I have a huge list but I can't remember it for the life of me at the moment
How many of your friends cosplay?
- I think pretty much all of my friends that I hang out with regularly. And some that I don't hang out with regularly.
Have you ever walked around in public in your cosplay outfit?
- Thats kind of what a convention is for. Walking around in public without being deemed a complete freak. But yeah, I've been in public in cosplay outside of conventions.
Have people in public ever recognized you and asked for photos?
-Yeah, I was Mario and he's a pretty recognizable character. People were just smiling at me and stuff. I was never asked for a photo outside of a covention.
Have you ever made your own cosplay outfit?
- I make or alter all of my costumes (except my Shin and Aya ones.. they were just clothes I had lying around). I'm not against buying costumes online because some costumes are very complicated or some people can't sew, but I like making my costumes. My friends and I tend to work together when we do a group cosplay and work on different aspects of our costumes together if they are a similar style of costume.
What was your favourite cosplay experience?
- Oh man... being guests of honor at Anime North was pretty ultimate. Its not really so much an experience as a happening, but I love all of the people I have met through cosplay! Because of it, I have some of the best friends I could ever hope for.
What is your worst cosplay experience?
- Hm, I guess... being Gatti... and what went with the process of making that costume. I didn't like how I looked in that costume at all, and the process of making the costume and events that played out with it were pure torture! Also, making the fur skirts for the Kouga peeps.. guh! I think I broke a million needles and 20 machines because of those skirts,
When and where did you first learn of cosplay?
- Through friends I think. We kind of just came up with it on our own for Anoween, then discovered that there was a whole world dedicated to this thing called Cosplay.
What did you think of it then?
- I'm not sure. At the time I wasn't too impressed with it. I didn't even want to do it at all and I just did it with my friends so I wouldn't be left out.
What do you think of it now?
- I love it! I spend my time thinking about who I want to cosplay and when I will be able to do the costumes I want to do.
Where do you usually cosplay?
- Conventions and Anoween... also the Anime Picnic.
Have you ever done a cosplay skit on stage?
- Yes, Several : )
Have you ever won a prize for said skit?
- Yep! Again, Several *proud*
Do you plan your cosplay outfits waaay before youre meant to wear them?
- Usually. I try to think of who I want to be, like I said and when I can afford to do them. Usually though, I'll think of who I want to be then change it a few weeks before the event I'm meant to go to.
Have you ever been to a convention and cosplayed?
- Sure have! I've always cosplay at a convention, except my first year at AN where I was just a random goon.
Ever have something terrible happen to your outfit?
- My cat peed on most of my past costumes... soooo... I pretty much have to throw them all out
What is the best thing about cosplay?
- Being recognized and getting your picture taken. When people recognize you, its like you're kind of a celebrity. And its fun photographing cosplayers as well.. and just running around being crazy!
What is the worst thing about cosplay?
- Ugh, the money situation. Its so expensive sometimes. And sometimes sewing can get so frusterating >.<
Why do you cosplay?
- Because its a hobby that I can do in C.B. thats not smoking, drinking or doing drugs. Its a lot of fun and my friends and I can do it together and be like "BEST PALS!"
(P.S. I'm not really in a shitty mood... I just can't change my mood for some reason)
